Come out to Collier Park tennis courts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to play Pickleball. While the game is easy for beginners to learn, pickleball can become a fast-paced and challenging game that’s both entertaining and a fun way to stay active. Participants must bring their own equipment.

Take the Urban Walking Trails

Created thanks to a grant from the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the Urban Trails are a great way to get fit and experience La Mesa’s sights. Follow routes marked by three different colors that determine trail difficulty.

  • Blue - Beginner “The Stroll”
  • Green - Intermediate “The Stride”
  • Red - Advanced “The Challenge”

Produce Your Own Symphony at the Music Garden in Briercrest Park

Featuring beautiful landscapes of native plants, children’s art, climbing rocks, swing sets and massive xylophones, Briercrest is an exceptionally special place nestled in the Jewel of the Hills.

Explore the La Mesa Historical Society

Visit the La Mesa Historical Society and experience the City’s evolution from a small 1800s agricultural community to a silent movie-mecca in the early 1900s, to the beautiful Jewel of the Hills it is today. The McKinney House Museum is open for tours on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month from 1-4pm. The research archives are La Mesa Historical Societyopen every Saturday (except holidays) from 1-4 pm.

Additionally, if you have a passion for history, the La Mesa Historical Society is looking for volunteers interested in being docents/guides for the Museum and the archives. There will be a volunteer training opportunity on September 22, 10:30 a.m.-noon.
