The commission consists of five members appointed by the mayor with the approval of the City Council. One retail merchant, one commercial business member, one resident, and two members at large shall be appointed as members. No category shall have more than two representatives on the commission. At least one of the retail / commercial merchants shall be a member of the La Mesa Village Merchants Association. Merchant representation from east and west of Spring Street shall be preferred. The appointed members shall be registered voters and residents or business owners in the City of La Mesa.
Members are appointed for four-year terms and are subject to the city's Conflict of Interest Code . Members serve without compensation.
The commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council regarding parking-related issues within the Parking District. The commission is committed to ensuring cost-effective public parking that meets the needs of the city's businesses, residents, and patrons by involving the community in parking management decisions.
